Back to School!!

Back to School today!! Ellie into 2nd grade and Emily into Pre-school. The report back this evening was positive, whew 1 day down........

Torrey Pines

On Saturday we met up with the southern southern californians in Torrey Pines for a hike. Then got lunch together before heading over to J^2 house for the afternoon. 

Wicked

Last week of summer and Ellie was in theatre camp again, this time for Wicked, which is the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. A complicated play with difficult songs to remember.  Ellie played Odessa, a Glindette, and also a Ozian. 

School starts in two days!!

Holy Fire

Earlier in the week some jackass purposefully started a fire about 20 miles east of our house in the Cleveland National Forest which runs through the San Gabriel Mountains. As I write it is now around 20,000 acres and 35% contained. 

Depending on the direction of the wind the smoke is clearly visible. 

Here was the view from my window at work on Thursday. 

You could also see the smoke and haze from our neighborhood. 

Uncle Ted's Memorial Celebration

Last weekend we drove out to Phoenix for a few days to celebrate Uncle Ted's life with family and friends. He passed on July 17, 2018, Fathers Day.  The girls always enjoyed how engaging he was with them and the games of Chickenfeet they would play together. 

While Ted will certainly be missed - his memory is a blessing. 

Since it was August it was HOT (110F) and the girls got some great pool time at GJ and Bobpa's.
