Busy, Busy, Busy

A very busy few weeks here - so let me try and recap, although I am sure I will miss something.

A few weeks ago we went up to the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center to see a production of Disney's Aladdin. Great special effects and thank you GJ and Bobpa for funding this!

St. Patrick's Day - nothing says St. Paddy's day like an edible Lucky Charm rainbow.

Emily has just about mastered the bike!

Leshner visit - last week the Leshner's were visiting from AZ and came up to the OC for a day.

Ellie participated in an International Food Festival through Girl Scouts, 100s of Girl Scouts at this event. Her troop chose China and performed a dragon dance.

I took  a work trip to both New Orleans and DC. Here are some pictures from NoLA - trying a world famous Hurricane from Pat O'brien's in the french Quarter and doing same 'gator wrastlin' as part of Jean Lafitte's swamp tours.

On the sports front, the rains finally lifted and we have been in full swing with Ellie's softball season and Emily's soccer season. Here they are last week off to their respective games.

The eLemonators continue to roll, I think their record is now up to 7 wins and 1 loss.  I tried to include some videos but but I do not think they are coming through so I included some still pictures as well.

Here she is behind the dish making the throw down to 2nd to to try and get a baserunner stealing.

Emily's soccer team, the mighty Sunshine Unicorns, is hitting their stride. Here is Em in action last game, which they won 3 to 1.

So that is about it, last night we made the drive to PHX for Spring Break and are looking forward to some R/R.

Update

Whew - finally finding some time to get caught up and come up for air.

First, Emily came home the other day determined to learn how to ride her bike w/o training wheels. Darcy pulled them off and after a few false starts and spills away she went! No turning back now - so proud of her.

Second, Ellie received a "marvelous mathematician" along with about 10 other second graders in recognition of her math skills. Nice to see her holding her own with the boys!

Third, Ellie had a successful year of girl scout cookie sales. Thanks for all all the cookie purchases everyone. Here she is manning the troops cookie display out in front of Wallmart.

Fourth, the rain and "cold" out here didn't let up in the latter half of February or the start of March. The Weather Channel estimated that California had received 18 trillion gallons of rainfall (and we have had a few storms come through since then) and I think the drought is officially over! In addition, for the first time in recorded history (at least 142 years) the mercury did not reach 70 degrees in LA. Needless to say we have had a ton of softball and soccer rain outs. In fact Emily is still waiting to get her first game in as everything has been washed out.

Ellie's softball team, the eLEMONATORs, has gotten a few games in and is off to a 4 win 0 loss start. She is playing shortstop, catcher (threw out a girl stealing 3rd yesterday), and usually gets an inning in the outfield. So far hitting is going much better this year as well, at least when she works the count to have the coach pitch.

Ellie behind the plate!

No action shots of Emily yet unfortunately but here she is in her uniform. The Sunshine Unicorns are going to be tough, if they can ever get a game in (or practice in for that matter). She is itching to get out there on the soccer fields.
