Well this past week the Ellie's 8u end of the season softball tournament played out.
Game 1 we lost to the red heartbreakers 6 to 4. The team was very flat. Ellie put the ball in play and got an RBI but was thrown out at first.
Game 2 we beat the blue blasters 7 to 6 coming back from 2 in the bottom of the inning. A very exciting game. Ellie playing catcher threw a girl out stealing third in the last inning - a huge out for us. Ellie got hit by a pitch but shook it off.
Game 3 we beat the orange smashing pumpkins 4 to 3 again coming from behind in the bottom of the last inning to win the game!
Game 4 we lost again to the red heartbreakers 7 to 2 for 2nd place overall in the tournament. The best part was our head coach and assistant coach were out of town so guess who got to manage!!?? Too bad we didn't get the win. The girls were a little sad but the trophy helped lift their spirits. Ellie had two walks in the game - good plate discipline against a good pitcher.
Well that is the season.....
Allstar evaluations were today so we will see how that shakes out.
A great time in Phoenix for Spring break 2019. We were able to spend time with the whole gang over the week with lots of fun activities - hiking, museums, train rides.
With all the rain here and in AZ there is a desert bloom going on - The first few pics. are from around SoCal. The next few from AZ.
On Monday, we went hiking through the Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve with GJ, Stacey, Connor and Ayden.
We took a really cool train ride (Verde Canyon Railroad) through the Verde Canyon area North of Phoenix, 2 hours out and 2 hours back. The views were great - featuring native flora and fauna, high-desert rock faces, vistas, and nearby caves with Indian ruins going back to 600 BC. The whole area is only accessible by this one rail line so it is well preserved. Nothing to do but watch the scenery roll by and take LOTS of pictures.
At the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) - which was really cool! Musical instruments from around the world including an electric guitar exhibit.
Ellie pulled out Darcy's haircrimper circa 1991!!!
At Greatgrandma's with Uncle Ernie. A fun day playing lawn games!
I had to fly to DC so I left everyone on Friday and on Saturday Darcy drove back with the girls but not before spending a fun 24 hours livin' the resort life in Palm Springs!!
So that is it. Now we grind out the last few weeks of the school year - only 38 more days of school!
