Silver Warriors

After the regular season Ellie tried out for Allstars and made the silver team again (like last year). She was hoping to make the gold team and was initially disappointed and there were some tears etc.  but she has embraced it and likes being one of the older more experienced girls on the team. I was asked to be the assistant coach which has been fun.

Through two tournaments we are 2 wins and 4 losses - which is 2 more wins than we had all of last year!! Ellie is spending most of the time at shortstop and is throwing out 1 to 2 girls a game at first.

She is batting third and typically either walks or strikes out. Continues to struggle to consistently put the bat on the ball but we are working on it.

Rancho Roundup Tournament
  • vs. Laguna Niguel  - lost 8 to 5.
  • vs. S. Huntington Beach - won 8 to 7
  • vs. Torrence - lost 8 to 5

San Clemente Memorial Day Tournament
  • vs. Capo - won 4 to 3
  • vs. Los Altos - lost 8 to 2
  • vs UC Del Sol - lost 10 to 2

Here are some pictures (Ellie is #9)

A great play at the plate vs Laguna Niguel- just barley slid under the tag to tie up the game 5 to 5 going into the last inning.

Chatting up Ellie before she leads off an inning against Los Altos

Ellie looking a girl back at second.

Ellie flashing some leather at short and throwing the batter out at first .

Not sure what we are looking at here but I don't think we agree with the call.

Team bonding

And the San Diego Reifenbergers came up and watched yesterdays game against UC Del Sol. Afterwards we got lunch in San Clemente and walked down to the beach.

More updates to come - three more tournaments left.

Sunshine Unicorns Season Ends

This past Saturday the mighty Sunshine Unicorns finished off their season with a resounding win. Emily scored 4 goals so she was happy. They don't really keep score but the Unicorns were one of, if not the strongest, teams out there. In the spring they combine pre-K and kindergarten ages so it was great experience for Em. to play with some older kids. She will be well positioned for the Fall when she is just playing against her own age group. On Sunday, there was a team party where the kids each got a medal.

Odds and Ends

As usual - a busy few weeks here.

Ellie and Darcy + the girl scout troop spent the night at the San Diego Safari Park, part of a program called "roar and snore". It was funded by the troops cookie sales - so thank you everyone. Not sure they got a lot of sleep (the lions were roaring all night) but they had a blast and got some great exposure to the animals after hours.

Not to be outdone, Em and I opened up all the living room windows and "camped" on the living room floor for the night and stayed up late watching the original Alice in Wonderland

The girls elementary school had their annual All Star Bash fundraiser. Lots of fun carnival games and wild hair do's.

There have been some good neighborhood plays in the alley.

Mothers Day - Best Mom Ever! We went on a family bike ride.

Sunshine Unicorn Update

The mighty Sunshine Unicorns keep rolling - I don' think they have lost more than a couple games so they are stringing together a good season. Em. is holding her own playing great defense and getting a few goals here and there.

Darcy is doing a great job coaching!
