Arctic Exploring

Overnight we had around 4 inches of snow and Winter Storm Marcus is supposed to bring another 10 to 18 inches or over the next 36 hours, so that should be fun. But this morning we took the girls out to play in the snow. 

This is the sidewalk in front of our house (the street is on Ellie's left and the house is on the right), the city cleared it earlier in the week, at 2am in the morning.

Snow Update

Yesterday Winter Storm Linus dumped another12 to 14 inches on us. Between the two storms, this has been the region's snowiest 7 day period since records have been kept ( ~ 40 inches in 7 days). 

Needless to say we have been doing a lot of shoveling to keep the drive open.

The fence in front of our house is nearly buried. If you look closely you can still see the Christmas lights running up the post.

Can't wait for grilling weather, the grill is under there somewhere. See if you can spot it.

Winter Storm Juno

We survived Juno! Depending on where I measure in the driveway we received either 19 or 29 inches. 

Officially, Boston recieved 23.3 inches (Logan Airport) making it the 6th greatest snow fall in Boston's history. Winter Storm Nemo (Feb 2013) had 24.9 inches. Many other towns in the area officially had over 30 inches (typically the surrounding communities get more than Boston proper) associated with Juno. 

So, in the 5 winters we have lived here we have now seen 2 out of the 6 largest snow storms in Boston history! 

For reference, the largest snow storm in Boston's history was in 2003 (27.6 inches). Here is a whole slew of pictures.

The Clean-up 

Since all the doors where snowed in, the only way out was through the Garage door. When I opened it, I found ~ 29 inches had piled up. 

Insane drift under the kitchen window and below are trash bins, easily 48 inches back there.
