Thanksgiving 2021

As in years past spent T-giving in the PHX area. Great time seeing everyone. We were all very excited to get some down time -  needed a vacation badly.

Drove out to Minnie's on Friday night where we spent the night. Drove up to Anthem Saturday after lunch. Sunday afternoon drove out to Wickenburg meeting-up with some friends at Rancho de Los Caballeros (more on that in a separate post). Then headed back down to Anthem for the remainder of our trip.

We attempted an escape room - and failed miserably - had fun trying though!

We ran in the Anthem Turkey Trot for the 6th year. VERY VERY windy this year which I think slowed us down a bit. Ellie and Darcy ran together and I ran with Emily. Emily was def. most improved this year shaving off 10 minutes from last year! We all got medals for finishing towards the top.

Historical Race Times:

2021: Ellie- 38:51 ; Darcy - 39:19 ; Emily - 42.55 ; Matt - 43:05

2020: Ellie - 37.25 ; Matt - 39.05 ; Emily - 53:00 ; Darcy - 53:15

2019: Ellie - 41.30 ; Darcy - 42.0 ; Matt and Emily - Exactly 1 hr.

2018: Darcy and Matt: 40 minutes (19th and 20th place!)(Ellie sick)

2017 - Ellie and Matt: 47 minutes

2016 - ?? ( no record)

On our return we decided to take the southern route back home instead of our usual route via the 10. There was def. less traffic on the 8 across AZ and into Yuma and CA and into San Diego. We did hit some traffic in the last 30 minutes down by San Clemente. Its 50 miles longer and took 8 hours (including about an hr stop in Yuma getting gas and eating at the Cracker Barrel).
