Universal Studios

Over the 22nd and 23rd we took the kids up to Hollywood and visited Universal Studies and Griffith Park and Observatory.  Hard to believe we have been 6 years and have really never gone out of the OC bubble. We had fun though over about 48 hours riding the rides at Universal and exploring Griffith Park, home of the famous Hollywood sign and the Observatory.

The girls really enjoyed Harry Potter land and even I was impressed with the detailing and the castle.

We caught the Animal Actors show that featured animals of Hollywood doing tricks. Amazingly Darcy got picked out of the crowed to have a parrot take a dollar bill out of her hand, fly back to the trainer, and then return the dollar bill back to Darcy.

On Sunday we drove to downtown Hollywood and had a great breakfast at a trendy diner and then drove over to Griffith Park. From Griffith Park you get a great view looking west out over the greater LA area.

We happened to be there over noon and so got to see the The Gottlieb Transit Corridor, a working Meridian Arc, in action! That circle / spot in the picture below is the sun making its way across the North / South Meridian marking the exact time we go from A.M (Ante meridiem) to P.M. (Post meridiem).

Next weekend is Opening Day in Softball so our weekends are going to fill up quick!!
